How do you know when someone unfriended you on facebook? 16

Popularity on Facebook is mainly based on the Number of Friends with whom he/she shares everything or anything.  I pruned about 60 of the people I didn’t actually know in real life from my ~300 facebook friends a while ago, definitely wouldn’t have done it if they had had an easy way of seeing that I had removed them . But what if you find your friend count to be less than before ? Now Facebook won’t notify you when people remove you from their friends list but if you would still want to have that data, and there are many web tools that can help reveal the names of your ex-friends.

The idea is simple. You connect your Facebook account and all the Facebook profiles that are listed as your Facebook friends are fetched and you can get every day alerts if one or more connections have gone missing from your Facebook friends list. There are two possible outcomes – either the person has quit Facebook altogether or they have unfriended you for some reason. You wont receive any notification of unfriending on facebook. The only way you can find out is if you go look at your profile and see the “Add as Friend” option. But even this fails if you are added to Block list .

These are some of the apps and tools that you can use to see who has unfriended you on Facebook.

1] Unfriendfinder

Unfriend Finder is a realtime user script that keeps a record of your friendlist and compares it each time you login to Facebook.
Unfriend Finder lets you know when one of your friends unfriends you, deactivates their account, the status of active friend requests, and the name of those who decline your friend request.

1. Chrome

This is the easiest one of them all. Download the Unfriend Finder script HERE and select “Install.”

2. Firefox

First, install the Greasemonkey add-on HERE.

Next, download the Unfriend Finder script HERE and select “Install.” Select “Install” again when the Gresemonkey installation prompt appears.

3. Safari

First, you need to install the NinjaKit plugin which you can download HERE.

Next, download the Unfriend Finder script HERE and select “Install.” You’ll be prompted to confirm installation of the extension.

4. Opera

First, download the Unfriend Finder script HERE and save it in a folder of your choosing.

Next, open Opera and go to Preferences > Advanced > Content and select “JavaScript Options…”. Browse to the folder where the userscript is saved and select “Ok.”

2] Twentyfeet

This service is available for facebook , twitter and myspace as well . Basically it is a monitoring service. One forever free account for twitter and facebook ! It gets chargeable after that

3] Whodeletedme

Free service . Easily tracks your friendships and once something’s changed , you will get notified via emails

4] FacebookFriendsChecker

Regularly checks your Facebook friends to check whether anyone has removed you from their friends
When the script detects that someone you used to be friends with is no longer one of your friends, a message will appear informing you about who it was and giving a link to their profile page (the list of friends-id save on your browser localstorage). It’s a Greasemonkey script and available as a Chrome extension.

5] Friendschecker

FriendsChecker is a free, ad-supported app that notifies you whenever someone unfriends you . FriendsChecker works in Microsoft Windows on Firefox and Internet Explorer. For Mac OSX, FriendsChecker supports Firefox only.

6] Whoremovedyou

This is a Facebook app but i dont think it will have a long life as Facebook had banned a similar app earlier .

7] WhoUnfriendedYou

The first time you launch the application, your friend list is saved. The next time you launch the application, it will compare your friend list from before.

We consider it minor if some do us unfriended in Facebook but with prospects of marketing it has really great effects.

I think I’m ok when someone unfriends me on facebook. They’re probably not within my inner circle anyway. If they were, I’m sure they’d let me know if my posts need improving or not. Happy holidays!

I agree to this “Popularity on Facebook is mainly based on the Number of Friends with whom he/she shares everything or anything.” that’s why we keep on looking to our friend on FB to be connected with…And if someone unfriends me its just ok with me. Thanks for sharing a great post..

Thank you for these tools to unearth friendship termination on facebook. I would however imagine that the tools will be useful for those who keep large number of friends. For some of us who really take time to “select” friends and so keep a relatively smaller number of friends, we can detect whenever anyone is missing.

Even if i cannot detect, i think it is good riddance to anyone who decides to unfriend and i cannot be bothered to start wasting sweat on identifying who unfriended.

Some people however really care because i recently heard on facebook of someone who tried to murder a person who unfriended him/her.

I don’t get many unfriends, but when it does go down by one or two it’d be great to know who! Thanks for the tips

Even with marketing, I’m not sure how important it really is that someone unfriends you on facebook. Facebook is a great medium, but its not the panacea that its made out to be either, in my humble opinion of course.

Great marketing requires multiple fronts, and losing a few individuals on facebook isn’t going to make or break a business plan.

Now, from a personal standpoint, I can definitely see where people would appreciate knowing this, and that’s great! You did a great job!

Who would care about their unfriends? Don’t live in the past, make some new friends!

That’s a good list of resources! I usually don’t notice if someone unfriends me for a long time. I can imagine that if your facebook account is connected to your business, it would be good to use one of those applications. Personally I don’t mind too much if someone unfriends me.
